NGP Will Be “Affordable” Says Sony

Although great detail was given on the NGP today, we’ve yet to know how much exactly the device will cost. Gamers across gaming’s web are speculating, with most assuming it’ll be priced expensively. But Sony’s just said that contrary from what we think, the PSP2 will be “affordable”.

That’s what Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Andrew House told Eurogamer today in Tokyo, adding that they’re also looking for profitability.

“I can’t put a ballpark on it in terms of figures, but what I would say is that we will shoot for an affordable price that’s appropriate for the handheld gaming space,” he said.

Adding: “Ideally we would want to have our hardware be profitable, in addition to our software. We’ve experienced both sides and we know which one we like to be on!”

No word yet on when the price will be revealed but expect it soon, as the NGP comes out this Christmas.

yea, thats what they said about the ps3 then released it at a thousand bucks!
i hope it is, but, well, sonys definition of “affordable” i fear is very different from consumers definition.

    one would hope.
hope they release it here close to the US release and fix the price BS!
why the ps3 is 200 bucks more here is beyond me!
the AUD is actually worth more than the USD at the moment, so if anything it should be cheaper here!

the better question would be whats not wrong with them!
but this has nothing to do with them, sony can charge whatever they want for their products.
    so they do.
they charge 200 bucks more because they know people are willing to pay it!

    not worth it.
once you pay for shipping which would be about 100 bucks its only really 100 bucks cheaper.
than you have to worry about has it been damaged in transit, warranty purposes.
if you buy it say in the US and it breaks ill have to send it back to the US to get it fixed.
if you were saving a couple hundred than ok, but 100, and all the things you have to worry about, just not worth it.
