We never thought he wouldn’t be. It’d be blasphemy to make the God of War lesser than he is; blasphemy. So when Ed Boon promised Kratos would look and feel just like he does in the God of War franchise, we were oblivious. We were like, of course. Nothing else would suffice. Are you mad, Boon?
“Everyone is really excited about this opportunity, and it’s been great working with the God of War team in making this happen,” Boon said speaking in the latest issue of Games Master (via CVG).
“With any great IP, there are guidelines that must be followed. We’re working really closely with the God of War team to ensure that Kratos looks and feels the way gamers expect him to. We have nothing but respect for the God of War development team, and our goal is to stay true to their creation.”
There’s no need to worry how Kratos will handle Mortal Kombat mainstays like Scorpion and Sub-Zero, because Boon confirmed that the Spartan wii be “very much a power character”, adding: “After all, he is the God of War.”
Indeed, Boon. Indeed.
Mortal Kombat comes available this year for PS3 and Xbox 360.

I am highly likely to pick this game up. I love the way the new MK looks. It is going back to its roots and I can’t wait, and I love the fact that Kratos is in the game.
Yeah, they’re really making waves bringing the franchise back to its roots. And with Kratos in there, the gods should take heed… Chaos ensues.
cant wait to play this game in 3D!
now i can finally execute those beautiful fatalities in eye poping 3D!
oh, how cool would it be if when your performing a fatality you became the victim?
kinda like what sony SM did with GOW3, how the camera changed to first person when you were killing Poseidon.
imagine having a first camera perspective when kung lao throws his hat at ya, and slices your head off.
ahhhhh, beautiful, beautiful violence!
mortal kombat how i have missed you!
Violence; I love it!
………Wait.
virtual of course, i would never hurt a fly.
