PSP2 Is As Powerful As PS3 Says EA

Christ Almighty, what in the world’s Sony up to? Global handheld domination? By the look of things, that might just be the idea.

Just as IGN’s gotten some more intriguing details on the specs of the PSP2, EA boss John Riccitiello has now blatantly said the device will be as powerful as the PS3 sitting in your living room.

Come on, what else could this mean:

“Having something as powerful as a PlayStation 3 in your pocket is a pretty compelling idea.”

It means, according to EA, not only is the PSP2 a monster, it’s also a great play by Sony, giving it a key line to place in press releases.

“Sometimes the competitive advantage requires games to show it off to prove its compelling. So reading in a press release that it’s as powerful as a high-end console in your pocket is sort of a little flat. Look at it [PSP2] the first time; when you actually see it happening it can be awfully compelling.”

Has Riccitiello actually seen games running on the device? Because his language sure hints at it.

Either ways, I’m excited to see what Sony has in store come next E3.

We’ll be there.
