The Wii has seen its yearly gains on the PS3 and Xbox 360 dwindle to nothing, literally. Many think it’s because the console has done its time, while others hold the perception that if only Nintendo would cut the price of the platform, we’d see a massive uptake in sales again.
For the company, however, none of the aforesaid’s happening in the near future.
“Of course, we cannot say it will never happen, but we are not thinking of it for the near future,” Nintendo President Satoru Iwata found himself saying in an investors call.
Iwata contends that his company’s console already has the advantage over the competition, with Kinect costing an additional $149, and PS Move around the same. It’s doing things to reach those who’ve considered the Wii but never got it, according to Iwata, is what needs to be done.
Things like creating attractive bundles and the like.
“Those who really wanted it would have already bought it so now we need to reach those who considered it but never got around to buying it,” Iwata added.
Nintendo has announced a special red Wii to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mario.

there sales are down for the first time this gen, there recording losses for the first time this gen and there all the blinder!

it has no games, non HD and now the ps3 and 360 have motion controls the wii has lost all of its appeal!
sure its cheaper, but its cheaper because its non HD, something people are not willing to put up with.
