Zenimax’s just confirmed that it bought Tango Gameworks, the game developer Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s a part of. It’s big news.
Here’s Mikami on the acquisition:
“It’s refreshing to find a publisher who understands, trusts, and supports the development of blockbuster games and works to make it a collaborative effort,” he said.
“The library of AAA franchise titles ZeniMax owns speaks for itself. We are very excited to be joining ZeniMax and working with a company that is dedicated to creating the best games ever made.”
The studio’s based in Tokyo Japan, and will move forward under the direction of Mikami.
Here’s Zenimax boss Robert Altman:
“Shinji Mikami has earned a stellar reputation as one of the industry’s finest game developers,” he said.
“He has repeatedly created hit titles that have earned praise from fans and critics around the world. We share his vision for innovative, genre-defining games and look forward to working with Shinji and his team at Tango.”
Is there a new game in the works? Nothing was mentioned, Mikami’s latest game is the Sega-published and Platinum-developed, Vanquish.
This is a big score for Zenimax.

so, that means hes left PG?
wow, why would you create your own studio, create 2 games with it than leave?
maybe hes company got tied up with sega, and hes sick of there crappy way of making games.
maybe thats why they have not released a single good game this gen!
oh, how the Asian publishers have fallen from grace!
they use to be the cream of the crop, now i would not touch them with a 10 foot pole!
Good for Bethesda.
not so god for the developers though.
bethesda have a nasty habbit of releasing broken games!
