Today’s PSP news day it seems, from the PSPgo’s price slash, to talk Sony’s prepping to release the long rumored PSP2 next fall.
Only this time, the giant’s planning an all-out onslaught not only against Nintendo, but Apple.
According to sources close to Kotaku, while TGS2010 was happening, Sony held a private meeting at its offices in Tokyo’s Aoyama. The sole purpose of said meeting was to show off the PSP2.
The previously rumored panel is indeed real, and will be on the back of the hardware. Said panel looks like a “big mouse trackpad”. Sony gave no details about the trackpad, instead left it up to the developers discretion on how they’ll implement it in games.
As for the screen, not only is it sharper, but it also renders in top HD quality and is 1 inch larger than that of the PSP3000. Being larger, however, shouldn’t be too big of an issue, especially in a day and age where cellphones the size of the iPhone and bigger exists, even more so the iPad, and eBook readers.
Recently, the PSP2 was said to be in hands of developers across the industry, one Mortal Kombat reboot Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick claimed is extremely powerful.
Yet, the PSP2′s hardware’s not in its final state, and Sony is having problems balancing battery, power and heat. Overheating issues are still pending and are being worked on as we speak, and Sony hopes to have the problem resolved before showing the device off to the public.
The PSP2′s specs are also expected to change.
No mention of 3D, however, so with specs expected to change, and with the media receiving the 3DS with open arms, Sony might what to add said functionality in.
Like I said, out with the old, and in with the new.

i hope it has a larger screen than 1 inch larger than the 3000 i prefer big screens even if it makes it a bit bulky.
one thing sony PLEASE dont waste your time with phone functionality and touch pad BS!
1 its unnecessary.
2 it increases bulk.
3 it pushes prices up.
4 touch pads dont suit gaming, look at the iphone sure some games work well with it but they would work much better with buttons!
o, and dont bother with 3D.
blowing chunks all over the guy sitting next to me on the train because the 3D effect has made me nauseous is not exactly a good selling feature!
let all the sheep flocking to the 3Ds figure that out for themselves.
