The little sisters of the Bioshock franchise have been an integral part of the game’s plot. Many of the story’s aspects, and even gameplay mechanics were built around them, but now, according to Irrational Games boss, Bill Levine, there’ll be no little sisters in Bioshock: Infinite.
“We think that the specific mechanic of the big guy and the little girl has been very well explored already,” Levine said in an interview with PlayStation: The Official Magazine. “We’ve said what we wanted to say about the specific save/harvest mechanic. So you’re not going to see that here.”
“Certainly there are things that may be touched upon those elements in certain thematic ways. [Elizabeth] is going to have those powers, but she’s never going to win the game for you, and you don’t control her.
But you’re going to build a relationship with her and feel an emotional attachment to her.”
Will Irrational Games deliver? Well, they were the guys who created the franchise, and the first game was rather good. So we’ll leave it up to them to deliver a truly unique experience.
Judging by this gameplay footage, I’m losing no sleep over it.
Bioshock: Infinite comes available in 2012 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

this and AA are shaping up to be the sure fire hits of next year, shame they have to go up against the heavy hitters like crysis 2, portal 2 and RAGE.
i have infinite (no pun intended) faith in both studios, on one side you have the masterminds who gave me one of my favorite series, bioshock was such a masterpiece, and still one of the best storys ever put into a game!
on the other you have the saviors of the dark night.
i just hope they link bioshock infinite to the bioshock universe.
you cant take a game in a well known famous series, change the characters, change the world, change almost everything people know and love about the game and expect everything to fit in and be honky dory!
they need to explain and show how bioshock got from rapture to where it is now, or if this is a prequel show how it got from in the sky to down into rapture, going from one extreme to another.
you cant take a well known series and turn it on its head without explanation, imagine what would happen if bungie took halo or insomniac took R&C or ninty took mario and instead of them taking place in there normal worlds, now you have the main character as a robot and he has to find his home planet.
ahhhhhh, WTF does that have to do with those series?
thats exactly how i feel about infinite, so they really need to link it to the series so people can understand how the world got from one place to another.
one thing that really destroys games for me is there believability, if a game does not make sense or has plot holes in it my enjoyment instantly drops at least 60%!
enslaved a perfect example, the character envolvement did not help, in HS you really feel for the characters, you build a bond with nariko and kai so you really feel for them.
monkey, pigsy and trip, i could not care less about them!
so that really hurt my enjoyment with the game, but not only that what hurt it the most was its believability.
the way they handled the game was excellent, leaving the ending and the story up to the players digression was fantastic, but they need to fill in a few holes.
the mechs in the game make no sense what so ever, and my tafe teacher told me one thing.
to have a good story you MUST have a back story, without history there is no future.
he was right, thats one thing you really miss and feels empty in enslaved, your constantly wondering what happened to the world, what was monkey and trip doing before they got captured.
thats one thing i hope gets done with infinite, fill the story with history, show us here we were, here we are now and here is where we will be than let the game play through.
you cant leave any holes, you need to glide over everything, you can leave things up to peoples mind but you have to fill there mind.
you have to leave it up to them, like enslaved does it gives you 2 choices and leaves it up to you which would of been better.
you cant leave any holes, otherwise your whole story, all your hard work goes down the drain!
Wow, Nick. And that’s why I think you need start your own studio!
“to have a good story you MUST have a back story, without history there is no future.” You said many good things, but that stood out to me the most. Awesome comment.
Great comment Nick. I’m really looking forward to Infinite and the gameplay footage they showed is the best thing I’ve seen this year!
@nick, what does “AA” mean
@ Ghost250: I think he was trying to say Triple A, as in AAA
oh
LOL, nah typo that was suppose to be AC as in arkham city.
read a article this arvo saying all UK sites have pushed it forward from spring 2011 to Q1 2011.
will we be seeing arkham city before the end of march?
that would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Oh, I was wrong too, Ghost : (
Okay, well, just do what the man says and do the best game you possibly can! I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve built!
@nick, oh thats what you meant, unfortunately after playing batman arkham asylum, i will not be picking up arkham city. though i will most definitely be picking up bioshock infinite
Infinite looks like a winner guys, no doubt.
