Black Ops Pre-Order Numbers Set All Time Record, Says GameStop

After the massive hit that was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, many thought it would take another Infinity Ward game to break its sales record, but according to GameStop, citing massive pre-order numbers for Treyarch’s upcoming shooter, Black Ops might just outdo Modern Warfare 2.

“GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops. We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard,” said a very pleased Bob McKenzie, SVP of merchandising, GameStop Corp.

If the game manages to outsell Modern Warfare 2, it would prove a big victory for Activision, who’s been untidily intertwined in a massive scandal involving Jason West and Vince Zampella, former bosses of the aforementioned studio who were fired because of “insubordinate” behavior, according to Activision.

Call of Duty: Black Ops goes on sale on November 9th, for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and DS.

    not surprising following the back of what is the biggest entertainment launch in all history!
    still dont think this will out sell MW2, treyarch dont have half the fan base IW does, and the no co-op is certainly not going to help them!
    3Ds a plus, for the 2 people in the world who own a 3D TV!

    Well if we’re to go by pre-order numbers, it’s certainly looking like it might outsell it.

    nah, ill be really shocked if this outsells MW2.
    certainly looks better, but thats not really saying much.
    i just hope its longer than MW2, if this is another 6 hour game than im through with COD games!
