Though many gamers weren’t pleased when the new Dante sculpted by Ninja Theory was revealed at TGS, that doesn’t mean said studio isn’t passionate about making the best Devil May Cry game possible. In fact Ninja Theory was in the process of looking at other projects and talking to publishers in hopes of scoring a new deal. However when they were approached by Capcom to reboot the much respected DMC franchise, they simply “dropped everything” and were glad for the opportunity to do so, and humbled by Capcom’s trust.
When asked if they were putting brakes on other projects to work on Devil May Cry, the UK studio’s ‘Chief Development Ninja, Nina Kristensen didn’t minced words.
“Well yes in a sense,” she said. “When we were thinking about what we were supposed to do next, we were feeling around for things and talking to a number of publishers, but obviously when Capcom put this project to us we just dropped everything.”
Kristensen also said they want to keep the core elements of the game unchanged, by doing that, the “high-octane fighting game that makes you feel very, very cool” won’t be lost, something die hard fans will definitely applaud.
“I think we’re bringing a new look and feel to the franchise, because it’s important to have the franchise appeal to a broader audience. Obviously the franchise has very loyal fans.
And we hope that in due course that they would love what we’re doing too. We are respecting the true DNA of the franchise. At its core, Devil May Cry is a high-octane fighting game that makes you feel very, very cool.
That’s what we fundamentally need Devil May Cry to be, but we’re brining it in to a visualisation that is a little more down-to-earth, a little more urban and has more of a general western appeal. We’re also going to be pushing on the storytelling aspect, and the engagement with the characters.”
No release date for the game has been set.

@Ernice Gilbert, you know decided to rent enslaved after yo told me to give it one more try. i played it and man i got to tell you that game still sucks. combat is repetitive, graphics are sub par, story is basic (not to mention the ending was so stupid). After playing that game I’m really am scared for the DMC franchise with this new entry.
LOL, wow, didn’t know it was that bad. Nick will vehemently disagree with you on that one, as, apparently, it’s become his biggest game this year. I loled hard when you said it still sucks, wasn’t expecting that lol.
@Ernice Gilbert, biggest game this year? i beg to differ that game sucks, trust me if you haven’t bought the game yet, do not buy it, don’t even waste your time on it. buy the new castlevania instead its like a million times better.
Well, I planned on getting both, but I’ll rent Enslaved to see what it’s like. I’ll buy Lords of Shadow, though
combat sucks donkey balls, but besides that you cant deny its got fantastic characters and a decent story!
might be a little Hollywood, but it really sucks you in and makes you feel for the characters.
have to admit i was really disappointed about the combat though, the combat in heavenly sword is not exactly a in depth masterpiece but i was expecting the combat to be similar to that.
o well, please NT, do yourselves a favor and do a heavenly sword sequel!
seriously its the best thing for yous to do if you want to get your company a good name.
they proved themselves with enslaved and heavenly sword, nows time to show the industry how its done!
So Enslaved is not all it was cooked up to be eh? Still think it’s a decent title!
mmmmmmmm, no, not really.
its still a fantastic game dont get me wrong, but hype yet again has destroyed yet another game!
