“Hardly Anyone Plays Shooters On PC Anymore” Says MS’s Kudo

by Ernice Gilbert on September 20th, 2010, under Hot, Microsoft, News

First-person shooters on PC’s dead, according to Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda, soon nobody will be playing said genre on the aforementioned platform.

He made this claim in a recent interview with GameInformer, stating “hardly anyone” plays shooters on PC, and that Halo’s redefined the FPS genre as we know it.

“Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first person shooters on the PC anymore,” he said.

It does not stop there, either. Where’s Gabe Newell when you need him.

Kudo continued: “It’s all about the console. And I feel it is the same with Kinect stuff. If you are constantly trying to take something that is made for a controller and port it over to Kinect, it’s not going to be a good experience because it is made for a controller.

If you take the time to build it for Kinect from the ground up, however, you can make something that is a very new experience, but lots of times even more fun than it was before.”

So, forget about Rage from id Software, or Portal 2, and even Crysis 2. Forget about all those games, it’s a waste of time, the MS exec reckons.

Wow.

I am seriously getting sick of all these MS guys saying stupid stuff all the time. People play shooters on the pc all the time. I guess the people who play Battle Field Bad Company 2, Counter Strike, L4D, L4D 2, Battlefield 2, and TF2 don’t count. Along with many other games out there. MS needs to shut their mouths, I am hating them even more every day. He is just pissed that pc people will not buy their overrated, repetitive game. I am sick of MS and their cockiness. Yeah, Halo 2 helped with defining online games ON CONSOLES, but the pc shooter was well established by then. Also, in no way did Halo redefine the genre.

LOL, I just noticed that all the games I put up there were made by Valve, and Dice. I guess MS is just pissed because they can’t cut into their pc market.

Yeah, they can say whatever they like, but when fans and customers get offended and start to defect, they have only themselves to blame.

Yeah they have the right, but they should not do it as a company. Yeah, a lot of companies do, but MS has been really bad lately. I have my own opinion and I state it, but if I was in a high standing position at a big business; I would watch what I say.
