Halo: Reach’s Advertising Budget Is Microsoft’s Biggest Ever

by Ernice Gilbert on August 24th, 2010, under Bungie, Hot, Microsoft, News

If there’s one thing Sony could learn from Microsoft, it’s how to advertise a game. And come this September, you’ll see the software giant’s biggest advertising machine ever, in action.

This according to MS’s Global product manager Michael Stout, although the exec didn’t give actually figures, all one have to do is take a trip down memory lane and look at how much Redmond spent on former Halo titles.

Back in September 2007, $6.5 million was spent on Halo 3; so you can expect Reach’s budget to surpass that.

Advertising plans for Reach include 300 million Mountain Dews, 30 million bags of Doritos, a UFC sponsorship, live action TV spots and a robot in San Francisco.

Buy it on September 14th, anywhere in the world.

Thanks, Advertising Age.

I hope they come up with a better commercial than the one I am seeing on TV. I loved the live action and claymation commercials. They were epic, but the Reach one out now is just cutscenes from the game pasted together. They are not as good.
