Megaton: Mass Effect Coming To PS3 Early 2011 (UPDATE)

by Ernice Gilbert on August 17th, 2010, under Bioware, Breaking News, EA, Hot

UPDATE 2: Not only will Mass Effect 2 be available on the PS3 in January of 2011, it’ll also feature bonus content not found on neither the PC or Xbox 360 versions.

This according to the official ME2 site:

“The PlayStation 3 edition will include the full Mass Effect 2 game and hours of bonus content, making this the perfect introduction to BioWare’s award-winning action RPG franchise.”

UPDATE: We’ve added the Mass Effect 2 (PS3) trailer. Quench it past the break.

Original: It’s done. Massive Effect 2 is coming to PS3 in January 2011.

We ran a rumor earlier this year, and it was dead on.

But we were not the only ones, there have been countless rumors concerning the game’s arrival on PS3, and now it’s a reality. You know the proverb: where there is smoke, there is fire.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best rated titles of all time, hovering in the high 90s. So there’s no doubt that PS3 owners will go out and buy the game, if only to find out for themselves what the buzz is all about.

We’ll update with the trailer one it becomes available.

there not bringing over the first one so what is the point?
how are people suppose to understand whats going on?
plus if ME3 comes to the ps3 it would be inferior and make no sense since your actions in ME1 shape what happens in ME3.
this just seems like a really pointless idea.
they bring the game across with no new levels and dont bring over the original game either.
playing ME2 without the first is like playing MGS4 without any of the others.
your not going to have any clue what the hells going on!
this brings a whole new definition to the word pointless!

You now, you have a good point there. I guess they figured it’d be a waste of cash to bring the first one on the system since most people won’t buy it….

Man, the Xbox 360′s in deep trouble now.

    Where are the exclusives

  6. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 8:25 am

There is gonna be intro content to provide seamless transition for PS3 owners.

  7. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 8:27 am

Yeah Sole Survivor, this is not good for Microsoft.

  8. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 9:00 am

its because microsoft published the original, so EA cant bring it to the ps3.
i dunno how the storys going to fill in.
even if they do have a trailer filling you in ME3s going to be really weird because its shaped by your actions in the first 2.
this just seems a really weird silly move to me.
i hope L4D comes to ps3, that would be sweet!
ive had to miss out on the sequel because it got banned here.

@ExclusivesMostly: That’s good Bioware are bringing the introductory movie to the PS3′s version of ME2.

I just can’t see people buying XBox 360s over a ps3 these days; especially if they’re informed.

  10. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 9:21 am

@ Nick: If it’s banned on the Xbox 360 in AU, what makes you think it’ll come to the PS3?

  11. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 9:26 am

Either ways man, it’ll sell milllions

  12. Wed, 18th Aug 2010 at 9:28 am

    @ExclusivesMostly – that’s great news.

  13. Thu, 19th Aug 2010 at 8:45 am

because the game would have to be reclassified and they have been more lenient lately.
how GOW3 is ok for 15 year olds to play but L4D2 is not is beyond me!
