PrimeSense, the company from Israel that developed the technology in Kinect, says that same tech will be utilized in PCs and TVs in 2011. Darn close if you ask me.
This according to company VP Adi Berenson, who says the firm has already signed deals for the technology, and one cable provider intends to launch a gesture-controlled set-top box by summer 2011.
The technology will work just like Kinect, using a pair of 640 x 480 camera sensors to measure user position in 3D space; however, other features such as Kinect’s voice recognition will not be implemented, as it was created and added by Microsoft.
More over Engadget. Interesting stuff. Berenson also said that the company is also working on getting the cameras built into television sets, so the technology can “provide natural human control over TV-based media consumption”.
Man, the speed at which technology is advancing is just baffling. Mind boggling; I guess the bible was right.
i really cant see the point of this.
i mean yeah its cool being able to switch channles with your hand and not need the remote, but i cant see the need for it.
especially at its price tag, if you want to charge a premium for something you need to offer something people need.
i really cant see the need for this, its a luxury not a requirement.
if it was cheap than ok, but its not, i could buy a logitech universal remote which replaces all my remotes into 1 for that price!

depends on the price and whats available for it.
theres allot of restrictions on where natal can be used too.
apparently it cant be used near windows because the direct sunlight effects the camera.
you need 6 feet minimum of free space between you and the camera.
theres so many restrictions thats going to put a few people like me out.
