Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst, Michael Pachter believes that the new premium service from Sony, PlayStation Plus, will see one million new subscribes this year alone.
He believes the new service will be extremely successful, but he also thinks it’s the people who pay are the ones who’ll reap all the good benefits.
“I think that every enhancement to Playstation Network going forward is going to be for Playstation Plus so they’re always going to give you basic online gameplay,” he said in the latest episode of Bonus Round.
“I think when they start adding tournaments and new types of achievement systems it’s going to be for Playstation Plus members only and they’ll get a very slow migration over to the $50 a year (£39.99 in the UK).”
“I think Playstation Plus will work,” he continued. “You’ll get one million subscribers this year, two million next year, three million the next year and it’ll just slowly build.”
Sony’s new service will launch on June 29th of this month.

Yeah, Sony really did a poor job giving out info on the service at E3. Hopefully that will soon be fixed.
