Seems as if Microsoft will be taking a loss on every Kinect that sells when it’s released this year, as reports emerge claiming each unit is costing the software giant $150 to manufature.
According to Develop-Online, citing a “highly-positioned, trusted source,” each Kinect unit costs Microsoft $150 to manufacture.
The source also told Develop that the $150 expense of each Kinect unit is “a topic of concern for his company.”
Develop reached out to Microsoft for a response, however Redmond answered the usual: “no comment on rumour or speculation.”
If it’s true however, I can understand why the company would be concerned, now’s not the time, this late in the lifespan of Xbox 360 for Microsoft to lose any money at all. It’s just too risky.

hmmmmm thats the last thing you want to hear when your betting the farm on it!
lolol, that’s true lol
M$ are taking a massive risk with this, i really dont understand why there doing this.
they could make so much more money by just buying some first party devs and pumping out the games like sony it.
much easier and less risky too!
plus your set for the future!!!
Well, they believe they have a winner in Kinect…. Don’t tell them different cause they won’t listen!
