Most of the gamers who own an Xbox 360 are loaded with cash. Is that right?
My friends would beg to differ but according to Wedbush Morgan Securities Analyst, Michael Pachter, that’s the case. He also thinks however, that Redmond has been trying hard for a long time broaden its reach and thinks this time, Project Natal will do exactly that for them.
“I used to call Microsoft the Victoria Secret of the video game industry – what Victoria secret is to clothing, they are to games, they have a very narrow audience; it’s massive but it’s narrow – which let’s call it hot chicks for Victoria Secret, let’s call it hot guys for gamers, the elite of gaming. They really want to appeal to guys who call themselves hardcore gamers,” Pachter said on the most recent episode of Bonus Round.
“So you don’t have anybody who says ‘yeah I’m purely casual gamer and I went out and bought an Xbox 360′. “And I think that they recognize in retrospect that [it] limited the success of the box and that they want to broaden the appeal.”
Keighely asked whether the Xbox 360 was too hardcore, to which Pachter replied, “Well, yeah, and they’ve tried to broaden and broaden and broaden. They’ve gotten Viva Pinata 1 and 2 and then Xbox Live Arcade and some success.”
He contued: “But I think Natal was invented to broaden the appeal of the box in households where it’s already installed.”

its very much the other way around actually.
the ps3 is actually seen as the hardcore system because its more expensive and has more hardcore games for it and its a more complex beast overall.
but that obviously does not mean anyone who owns one is rich.
theres a reason why M$ have only spoken about natal in a casual way they have only shown off casual games for it for a reason.
sony on the other hand has nailed it in that move is a casual AND hardcore game peripheral.
