Ernice Gilbert, Founder Of GamesThirst.com: “I’m Sorry”

When you set out on a new venture, one that you’re passionate about, it would seem that no amount of obstacles set before you would be able to kill your drive.  About three weeks ago, I decided to leave the gaming journalism business.

I’ve had enough, I thought.  Too many attacks, reputation’s getting dodgy and on the eve of getting ready to realize a deal that would take the website to another level, I gave up.

Back in July of 2009, I started a blog.  Many of you might have visited it in the past which lead you here today as a member, and some of you obviously knew nothing about it until now.  It was basically a hobby for me.  I’d write articles, get some news off of the gaming magazines and and send them rival.  Unsuspectingly the site began to grow, ranking went up and I thought, ‘man, I can really do this’.

A lot of folks took notice and I started getting offers to write at major websites.  But why go and build someone else’ home when you need one yourself? Made no sense to me either, and so, to make things more official, GamesThirst.com the official site was forged.

We launched on January 1st 2010, and since then have become one of the fastest growing websites in said year.  It’s been a thrill! Our community is vibrant and constantly evolving! Folks like CoffeeWithGames, DLFootball, Nick, ShadowBlade, Seventy7, RespawnAction, Scheme, Tester4Life, Azian and countless other members and thousands of visitors daily, have made GT a place like none other.

But recently we’ve been the victim of constant malicious attacks, sending malware to our site that’s potentially damaging to your PC.  GAMES THIRST IS NOW CLEAN.  But if you have been infected just because you wanted to come to your favorite site and get some news, I, Ernice Gilbert am terribly sorry.  I know my apology is little comfort to those who have to go through the painstaking process of cleaning their computers, but I sincerely hurt with you.  My computers were also infected and it hurts even more to know what some of our faithful visitors must have gone through.

All hope was gone.  I told my wife I can’t do  this any longer, instead of me being a help and blessing to our viewers, we’re turning out to be a hazard.  So I gave up.  I thought, ‘if I can’t protect the visitors and members of Games Thirst, then it’s  no use.  I was about to  shut this down.  But hope came rushing from the depths of my being.  Never give up on your dream.

Things are fine now after we made some much needed changes but Let me be honest with you, it was extremely hard, but who said the cost of realizing one’s dream would come cheap? No one ever told me the road to success was a straight  and well paved path.  No!  It’s loaded with potholes, ditches, hills, valleys, snares and other obstacles.  But who ever dare to dream, whosoever will take the path of going beyond the norm  to fight for  their dream will realize success.  Go ahead, speak to some successful folks, and hear what they have to say, ‘victory is not for the fable in mind’.  You must be strong.

So today, I took a stand.  I will not give up on you nor my dream, and I will not give up on gaming journalism.  I will fight and with the help of God, lead Games Thirst to the top.

Will you join me and the Games Thirst family? If your answer’s yes then thank you.  Let’s take it to another level.

And once more, from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry.

Back to work!

Hey man. Great to see that the site is back up and running. I was getting a little worried after the site didn’t come back up after a couple weeks. I’m really glad you rethought your decision. You should never give up your dream. I truly believe that you can and will take this site to the top and in the future it will be a major gaming site, and I’m not just saying that. I really mean it. I think you have a lot of talent at what you do. You’ve accomplished a lot in a few short months, and I wish and hope nothing but success to you in the future. I appreciate all the work you put into this site, and I can’t wait to watch it evolve into something great.
