Chaos was unleashed last month in the west when God of War III released, and over a million thus far have experienced what is said to be Kratos’ final battle in the God of War series.
Well if it is indeed he’s last, the angry hero is going out with a bang.
According to Media Create, Sony Santa Monica’s lauded PS3-exclusive God of War III sold 43,000 units for the week, enough to place it at number 6 on the charts.
You might think that number is small, but in Japan, selling 43,000 copies of a western Greek Mythology hack-n-slash game in the first week it became available on the market is no small fit.
Also, for the week ended March 28, Koei’s licensed Dynasty Warriors-style manga-based 3D brawler sold 385,000 units on PlayStation 3 and 30,000 on Xbox 360. The PS3 version led overall unit sales charts for the week, while the Xbox 360 version came in at number eight spot.

Is the game censored/edited in any fashion for Japan?
I think No More Heroes had different colored “blood” in the game in Japan, but I could be wrong.
I wonder if a game like GoW3 is censored/edited before release in Japan as well.
@coffeewithgames:
I’ll check.
Nope, it was not censored : )
