Video Thirst: DSi Title Gives Glimpse Of How Games Will Work On 3DS

Nintendo stunned the industry when it announced new revolutionary hardware dubbed 3DS, affording gamers the luxury of enjoying games with the effects of 3D without the need “without the need for any special glasses”.

The company, however did not release any info on how the thing will work. So we’re left to speculation right? Let’s speculate then!

In the video below the game displayed is called 3D Hidden Picture, a DSi puzzle game that’s only available in Japan.

The DSi’s camera is used to track the movement of the console, then the image is adjusted according to make it appear in 3D.

Nintendo is a company that’s kin on keeping cost down for all its devices, whether it’s the Wii or handhelds the company always makes a point of having the cheapest hardware on the market.

Could it be that the Hidden Picture is the path 3DS will take? It’s feasible.

So it’s not really 3D but it’s close enough. Remember when the Nintendo Wii released all wasn’t done right hardware-wise. Meaning its accuracy and responsiveness were not topnotch when it was released back in 2006, yet it wowed many and sold/still selling countless amount of units. Later the MotionPlus corrected the aforementioned issues the Wii faced, however it was not because the company lacked the technology or finances to include the tech that would make the Wii’s accuracy and responsiveness stellar from the onset. Nintendo was considering costs.

So is it dejavu’ all over again? Well quite possibly. Release the 3DS with Hidden Picture-style 3D (basic technology) and later on, just like it did with MotionPlus, release better tech, or an update of some kind if possible.

It’s only speculation though, but what do you think about all this?
