Just when you thought you’ve heard all the amazing things about God of War III, something new comes and hits you right in the face. This time, it’s the amount of GB the highly anticipated title uses up, think 35GB of Blu-ray “goodness”.
“#God of War III 35Gb of goodness. Thank heavens for Dual Layer Blu-Rays,” SCEA director of technology, Tim Moss tweeted (via Lost Gamer).
See, Dual Blu-ray as its name eludes to, can hold up to 50GB when both sides are utilized, so it’s not the least surprising the game itself is using up 35GB, although according to Lost Gamer, new technologies can afford developers to put up to 33.4 GB on either side.
In recent years we’ve heard developers hail the benefits of Blu-ray, being that it offers so much space to allow as much content as possible unto the disc compared to DVD. A few days back, Capcom had to make a very difficult decision when it took out a substantial amount of content from its upcoming action title, Lost Planet 2 because of the limitations of DVD.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens as we move into the future, since Microsoft is making a huge part of its strategy to lengthen the life of the Xbox 360, hoping Project Natal will be able to inject at least a few more years into it.
God of War III makes its way to a retailer near you on March 16th, 2010. Less than a month away.
