Square-Enix Would Be Happy To Remake Final Fantasy VII, If It Could Be Done IN One Year

by Ernice Gilbert on February 20th, 2010, under Playstation 3, Sony, Square-Enix

It seems as if talks of a Final Fantasy VII remake will never die. In almost every interview, Kitase, one of the masterminds behind the game is asked the same question over and over again. To which he’s given varying answers all amounting to ‘we’d do it if there was a way’.

But in a recent interview with tech digest (via connected consoles), Kitase lets loose the most intriguing explanation yet; stating they’d redo the game, but if only it could be done in one year.

“If it were possible that we had all the right facilities and the right environment to be able to make and prepare a Final Fantasy VII remake within a year, we’d very much like a go at it! But even Final Fantasy XIII has taken over three and a half years to create,” he said.

“If we were to recreate final Fantasy VII with the same level of graphical detail as you see in Final Fantasy XIII, we’d imagine that that would take as much as three or four times longer than the three and a half years it has taken to put this Final Fantasy together! So it’s looking pretty unrealistic! But if any such situation came about by any remote chance, then yes, we’d do it!”

And to be quite honest, I’m not sure they’ll ever be able to pull it off in a year, it’s over I suppose.
