Sucker Punch Gearing Up Big Time For Infamous 2

May 26th 2010 will be a full year since Sucker Punch released its critically acclaimed title, Infamous, and if four job postings on the studio’s website are to be believed, it should not be too long before with see Cole again.

inFamous recently past the one million sold mark, a number we were expecting it’d arrive at sooner, however Sony and Sucker Punch are satisfied with game’s performance and have decided to go full fledged into development of a sequel.

The postings are below:

Concept Artist

We are looking for a concept artist to support our environments team. To qualify you must be a highly creative and talented digital illustrator with experience in the creation of interactive games.
Our ideal candidate has advanced digital painting technique as well as mastery in the ‘traditional’ technical and artistic skills of composition, color theory and draftsmanship.

Game Designer – Systemic Content

Can you make fun? Do you have that rare ability to string together a handful of game mechanics into a cohesive mission that makes people’s palms sweat? If so, let us give you money! Come work your magic here at Sucker Punch.
We’re searching for a designer with a background in 3D that’s very comfortable in Maya and has an artist’s touch. This person will be hired to fill out the systemic landscape: placing enemies, ambushes, patrol paths, etc. This person will be fundamental in creating the interactive bed rock of our next title by elegantly leveraging both the level geometry and systemic actors.

Texture Artist

Are you a texture artist who can push the limits of our PS3 engine and shader technology? We’re looking for an artist gifted at creating texture maps and surface shaders that transform gray 3D models into lush game environments and richly detailed characters.

Network Programmer

We are evaluating focused, easy to work with, and professional candidates to implement the on-line component for our forthcoming AAA title. We seek bright, energetic, and talented individuals who share our love of videogames and our passion for creating innovative and fun experiences. This job will involve both client-side and server-side work, and will be done primarily in C++.

Are you looking forward to inFamous 2? Share your thoughts.

Only played demo of first Infamous and really liked the style and gameplay. Network programmer will program primarily in C++ according to ad it seems like they use C++ heavily in game programming every programmer job ad I’ve seen has asked for extensive C/C++ progamming skills. I will have C/C++ next semester and I’m looking forward to seeing how different it is coded from java and learning exactly what goes into gaming code. Infamous 2 trailer coming E3 rumor is can’t wait to see any screens or gameplay from it.

The first title was awesome, there’s no doubt SP will be on the successes of the first with added new features.
