For Konami, Things Are Hard Without Metal Gear Solid

by Ernice Gilbert on February 4th, 2010, under Kojima Productions, Konami

Konami is home to some of the biggest franchises in gaming history, think Pro Evolution Soccer and Metal Gear Solid. So in the absence of these two titles, the company’s financial results are rather grim.

The publisher posted revenues of 190.1 billion yen for nine months closing December 31st, 2009, down 18.8 percent, a drop from 234 billion yen in the same period of 2008.

“Due to the absence of major titles, such as last year’s Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots, however, the overall sales fell this quarter as compared to the same period the previous year,” Konami said.

Well you can always look on the bright side Konami, this year you’ll have another Metal Gear Solid game right? That’s right, it’s Raiden’s turn to haul you in some cash.

I believe Metal Gear Solid” Rising will sell better being that it’s on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

So that will help Konami get out of the slump they’re in.

I’m not sure it’ll be a same quality, but it’ll be a great game!
