Nintendo has been an industry leader ever since it stepped in. Over the years, the legendary company has seen its market share gradually decrease because of stiff competition from the company that was its main rival back then, Sony.
Well there’s no better feeling than the one you get from staging a great comeback so let’s be clear: According to the numbers it released this morning, Nintendo is the best success story in this, the seventh generation of consoles thus far.
The giant confirmed over 125 million DS and 65 million Wii units have been sold, this according to life-to-date (LtD) numbers it released moments ago.
All the variations of the console were included plus the DSi XL, DSi and DS Lite.

Again, outstanding numbers from Iwata and the gang.
Yet, 3rd Party developers keep on ignoring it.
Nintendo are always going to dominate the handheld market, at least for the forseeable future.
However it remains to be seen how much damage Sony and Microsoft’s venture into the casual space will do to the Wii, i expect Wii sales to continue to decline YOY while PS3 hardware is likely to see a large increase, thanks mainly to Gran Turismo 5. Nintendo have a healthy lead right now, however their Wii sales are in a downturn and i can’t see them getting out of it anytime soon.
Nintendo is a powerhouse this gen and is outselling MS and Sony by almost 3:1. They have been with gaming since almost the start and they know what makes playing games fun I love Nintendo and can’t wait to see them bring out the Wii HD or their next gen console the future of Nintendo is very exciting
