The Critics Agree: God of War III Might Just Be The Biggest Game Of 2010

Never before have we seen such excitement and fanfare, never in my lifetime have I seen gamers and publications so thirsty for just a glimpse, a look, at any other game in history. IGN wants more. Gamers cuss vile language because promised footage wasn’t released, the internet goes wild at the mere mention of its title. Journalists are left speechless, flushed with no utterance and why? Because they’ve seen unreleased footage.

Santa Monica whatever you did, or whatever you’re doing, please don’t change, because by the look of things, March is about to become the biggest month in 2010.

The critics agree, Kratos will rock the gaming world come this March and to be a part of it you must own a PS3.

IGN: If The two minutes I just played of God of War III are any indication, this game is going to be a visual spectacle. There are sweeping camera angles, constant action the orientation of levels changes on a whim and some truly jaw dropping graphics.”

Joystiq: “My concerns were obliterated last month when I got to play the latest build of the game. It took me a minute or so before I was able to say ‘this is God of War’ and this is what is was meant to be.”

GamesRadar: “2010, say hello to your first potential killer app.”

It’s unanimous, every publication who’ve been able to capture a glimpse of the game hailed it as the best of the best. Here are a few reasons why Kratos will rule March:

Unmatched Graphics:

No other game has ever looked so beautiful on a gaming console; and that in of itself is a major accomplishment for Sony. Earlier this month, Sony execs uttered that God of War III was only possible on PS3 and we’re beginning to notice why.

In a recent interview with CVG Claire Backhouse, Sony’s product manager for the game said God of War III offered “unmatched realism” and is four times larger than its predecessor.

“God of War III combines these new technologies with the much loved gameplay elements from the previous games – puzzle solving, brutal combat and epic set-piece battles.

“It also benefits from a deep and involving storyline steeped in Greek mythology. This is what makes God of War III unique and sets it apart from other next-gen titles.

Backhouse added: “I think if you’re over 18 and want an amazing single player experience this year then God of War III is a must have.”

Epic Conclusion:

It’s a conclusion no one should miss. What started out as revenge over for his enemies, Kratos now finds himself fighting the very gods he once served and it reaches a massive climax in this last game in the trilogy.

PS3 At Its Finest:

‘Only on PS3,’ a quote used so often by Sony that it has become synonymous with the brand. They’ve been saying that ever since the redesigned PS3 Slim was launched and in some cases before that, with Killzone 2.

Now, more than any other game before it, Sony can hail God of War III as only possible on the PS3, and be proud to say so. The scale of this title is so massive, so grandeur and so meticulously put together that the PS3 has to be running on all cylinders to display such gaming glory; a feast for the eyes, beholding Kratos in 720p.

Finally, if you’re gamer who don’t really care about this fanboy war, but rather one who loves to enjoy a great gaming experience, now is the time to purchase a PS3 if you haven’t as yet; now is the time. Don’t wait for later in the year, jump in the fun whilst you have the chance because times like this come around once every generation.

We have a PS3 Slim Bundled with Uncharted 2 and it’s yours for free! Take it!

I think they also said this with both Resistance games, and perhaps even Metal Gear Solid 4.

On God of War III, I own a PS2 and PS3, but I actually don’t plan on buying this game and I didn’t buy the originals either.
Though, I did watch a friend play through almost the entire first game one night.

I don’t have a PS3, only an XBOX360, but I would love to play GOWIII. I will probably buy a PS3 but later, when the game is cheaper and I can afford to buy both the console and the game.
People that have already a console (PS3 or XBOX360) are not so easily influenced to buy another console. It’s a bit expensive. But I have to say the game looks sweet :)
