At 2010′s Game Developers Awards, a man who’s well known in the gaming industry will receive the sought after prize. Some abhor him, others adore him but there’s no denying that Gabe Newell is a master at what he does.
The Pioneer award recognizes individuals “responsible for developing a vital technology or game design at a crucial juncture in video game history, paving the way for many who followed them,” according to Newswire
At GDC 2010, Gabe Newell will be officially honored with the prestigious award when the ceremony commences in March, which will be attended by over 3,000 industry developers.
Amongst other reasons, Newell is being honored because he co-founded Steam, and also for creating some of “the most important video games of the past two decades.”
It’s good to see the industry recognizes its professionals with awards like the aforementioned, definitely an encouragement to keep those guys and gals striving even harder to bring us better content as the years move along.
Congratulations Gabe.

Wait a minute, shut up, family guy is not great, mediocre at best.
Who?
Even though I don’t like this guy for not developing games on the PS3.
Congrats Gabe
Haha, yes. I was wondering where I’ve seen this face before
Yeah but he should really get himself together and start doing just that.
I mean, neglecting such a big crowd is not doing anybody any good.
