Modern Warfare 2 has only been available for a two months yet in it’s first 5 days of release it sold an estimated $550 million dollars worth of copies. It was an instant best-seller and continued to sell like crazy throughout the holiday season.
Activision announced its own estimates have the game’s cumulative sales total breaking the $1 billion mark in just two months on shelves. Now consider that this is nearly the same amount of money that the entire US video game industry brought in for the month of October. It is also more then Capcom made in their entire last fiscal year.
I can understand why. Modern Warfare 2 is a fantastic game but it seems like it’s become the cool thing to do when it comes to bashing this game. To all you haters out there all I can say is I’ll see you when Modern Warfare 3 inevitably comes out.
