Platinum Games’ Shigenori Nishikawa was recently interviewed in an upcoming issue of Nintendo Power magazine where he expressed interest in taking a second stab at the Wii’s uber-violent ‘MadWorld’ game.
“I think MadWorld was very well received and was acknowledged for its innovative graphical style and gameplay,” Nishikawa said in Friday’s upcoming issue. “We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future.”
Now keep in mind that Sega has already said that they were not interested in creating more mature Wii games so if this game does come to life, Platinum Games would need to find a new publisher. It is also a possibility that the sequel could move over to the PS3 or Xbox platforms instead.

You said, “Now keep in mind that Sega has already said that they were not interested in creating more mature Wii games so if this game does come to life, Platinum Games would need to find a new publisher.”
WRONG! It was ONE guy that works for Sega in France I do believe.
Even if it was just one guy it was still Sega making my statement true.
It would be interesting to see madworld ported to the 360 or PS3 and make use of the natal project or the sony wand.
Still, I’d like for platinum games to make better ports to the PS3 (bayonetta anyone?)
THAT AND A GODHAND SEQUEL
And mature games on wii is a waste of time, the console is made for casual gaming, madworld seems kinda gory hardcore
@Colton West:
In reply and a correction. It wasn’t the Sega guy in France, it was Constantine Hantzopoulos, studio director at SEGA. I think he is in America.
He showed ignorance IMO, when he said, “Look at Dead Space. We were stunned. That was my litmus test. Basically, it’s like, okay, you got EA, who can put all the marketing muscle behind this, an established franchise that scored quite well on 360 and PS3. They should be able to actually hit this out of the park, right? We get numbers, real numbers aside from NPD, and I’m like, ‘Woah.’”
How much marketing muscle did EA put into Dead Space: Extraction on the Wii? Seriously. He also said it was an established franchise, and while true, it wasn’t established via onrails.
Initial response when EA announced this game was, “NOT another onrails shooter! We don’t want this!” From the sites I visit, that was the response of probably 9 out of 10 people when they heard about the game.
If Dead Space: Extraction was this guy’s “litmus test” for all Mature Wii games, so be it. Again, I think it shows his ignorance.
If Sega isn’t publishing more Mature games on Wii, that’s fine by me, because they haven’t done any mature games on Wii, that were rated above 90% overall anyway.
I would rather a company put time and effort into a AAA Wii game, than give Wii owners more rail shooters and games that are just six hours long.
