According to some mystery sources, Infinity Ward is not currently if at all interested in making the third entry in the critically-acclaimed series. They apparently have plans for something “completely new” and I’m beginning to think the 3rd-Person playlists in MW2′s online mode were an experiment of some kind.
Minor spoiler alert, Modern Warfare 2 ended on a cliffhanger so if the third game doesn’t elaborate on that I am going to be highly upset. Rumors a while back stating that a third company was being brought it in to develop games in the Call of Duty series so maybe they will be taking the torch?
Takes these rumors with a grain of salt however because nothing has been confirmed by anybody. It would be interesting to see what else Infinity Ward could create but I don’t know how I feel about the series being in some other company’s hands.
